Satellite Telemetry (Victoria, Australia) Pty Ltd (Sattel) is a vehicle telemetry technology provider and systems integrator focussing on the transportation and logistics sector, in particular marine and inter-modal container and cargo terminals. Sattel currently has key systems in 17 major container terminals around the world, including the largest port in the world located in Pusan, Korea.
Throughout Sattel’s implementation projects they have found that more and more systems need integrating per site. These systems regularly had incompatible protocols and transport methods. Initially Sattel began to integrate these system, however quickly discovered the scope of this integration was much larger than expected.
LogicalTech’s SysTalk team was employed to analyse, design and build an integration framework, which could be efficiently implemented at each site as required. This framework needed high availability and throughput. To date this framework has been deployed in Virginia, USA and Pusan, Korea. And is about to be deployed in Longbeach, CA, USA and Calgary, Canada. The solution is based on Microsoft .Net, and XSLT is used to transform data between systems. Currently the system in Pusan is processing in excess of 200,000 messages / day.
The implementation of a central broker integration framework has enabled Sattel to implement container systems in a far more dynamic way then their competitors, as a result winning a greater number of contracts and achieving a higher return on investment. With integration now being completed in days rather than weeks, Sattel can concentrate on their core business of vehicle telemetry technology at each site rather then the complexity of the local systems involved.
